Learn to Play Hockey

The Learn to Play Hockey program is designed to help kiddos feel competent and comfortable participating in a variety of fun, challenging sports and activities. At this stage, players:

  • Focus on fun;
  • Develop fundamental movement skills in a fun environment;
  • Learn introductory stick and striking skills through unstructured play and ball hockey;
  • Explore a new surface (ice) and mode of locomotion (skating);
  • Develop on-ice balance and coordination;
  • Develop an interest and passion for hockey.

LIHA's Learn to Play program is for children and teens ages 9 to 14 who have never played hockey. The registration fee includes all gear, some pre-season ice time, and a full season on the appropriate House team (10U, 12U, or 14U). Registration is open through September 1, 2023.

Children under the age of 9 will learn to skate and play in the 8U program. Click here for information.
