We're looking for a few fierce girls (but, really, is there any other kind of girl?) to join our merry band of hard-skating, fun-loving hockey players. If your daughter is interested, we'd like to get her on the ice. There is a place for girls of all ages. For more information, drop a note to head coach Dave Shipperbottom.

LIHA COVID Policy as of January 4, 2022

By KH 01/04/2022, 9:30pm CST

The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHC) COVID-19 Risk Dial moved to the red (severe risk of spread) on January 4, 2022.

What does this mean for LIHA teams?

  • Everyone (players, coaches, managers, parents, siblings, spectators, etc.) ages 2+ are required to wear a mask when not on the ice engaged in strenuous activities.
  • Players ages 5+, coaches, managers, and volunteers are encouraged to get the COVID-19 vaccine (free at locations throughout the city).
  • Managers must keep track of who is attending practices for contact tracing purposes.

Current CDC guidelines state:

  • Players/coaches/managers who have tested positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, must ISOLATE:
    • Stay home for 5 days.
    • If you have no symptoms, or if symptoms have resolved after 5 days, you can leave your house.
    • Wear a mask around others for an additional 5 days.
  • Players/coaches/managers who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 must QUARANTINE:
    • If you have been boosted OR completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the last 6 months OR completed the primary series of J&J vaccine within the last 2 months:
      • Wear a mask around others for 10 days.
      • Test on day 5, if possible.
      • If you develop symptoms get a test and stay home.
    • If you have completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine over 6 months ago and are not boosted OR completed the primary series of J&J over 2 months ago and are not boosted OR are unvaccinated:
      • Stay home for 5 days. After that, continue to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days.
      • If you can't quarantine you must wear a mask for 10 days.
      • Test on day 5, if possible.
      • If you develop symptoms get a test and stay home.

These policies will continue to be revised as directed by the LLCHD.  More detailed information is available on the CDC's website. Thank you for doing your part to avoid any further shutdowns with hockey this season!

Girls Hockey is More Than Just a Game

It's a way of giving girls advantages that will last them the rest of their lives, as this Nike ad from 1995 reminds us:

Three Ways to Support Girls Hockey in Lincoln

The Lady Stars have committed to making sure that no girl has to pay to be a member of the team this year. The benefits of program are simply too great to create financial hurdles. But this means we need your help. Would you consider:

1) Contributing to our GoFundMe campaign? It lives at It's a great way to support not only individual skaters but also a sport that provides fun, confidence, and teamwork to dozens of local girls.

2) Buying a "Nebraska Home-Ice Advantage" tee shirt? All profit goes direct to the team. They'll be available--with delivery by Christmas--for about another week. Adult sized tees can be purchased here, and youth sizes are here

3) Sponsoring the team? For more information about what that entails--and how that support can be broadcast--please contact our manager
