The development plan and tryout schedule for the 8U and 6U group (those born in 2008 and earlier) is now available on the LIHA 8U page. We encourage all parents of young skaters to review that page in advance of the first ice touches.
Skaters will be assessed and broken into three groups--Red, White and Blue--designed to maximize development and maximize fun in accordance with USA Hockey 8U Guidelines.
LIHA will conduct player evaluations in order to place players into the Red, White, or Blue groups. Skaters will be split into groups assigned an evaluation date (Oct. 4 for last names A to M and Oct. 5 for last names N to Z).
Some players will be asked to attend an Oct. 9 session for players teetering between the blue/white or white/red groups. All players and parents will be notified of their group placement by Oct. 10.
Each group will practice a minimum of 2 hours per week. The parents of each group will pay for any additional ice time above the 2 hours per week if additional ice is available. If any practice time is added, parents will have input of their desire to do so. Early in the season, the Red group will add additional practice time if ice is available and the parents will be responsible to pay for this additional practice time.
