Hey LIHA Families,
My name is Patti Johnson and I am the Billet Coordinator for the Lincoln Stars. I work alongside Michael Sdao, the Stars’ Assistant Coach. For those who are unaware, billeting refers to hosting a junior hockey player in one’s home during hockey season. A billet family home is where a player lives, eats, sleeps, relaxes, does laundry, etc. during hockey season -- it is a player’s home-away-from-home. We are looking for multiple families to billet players for the 2020-2021 season.
If you love hockey, having a hockey player live with you in your home adds a lot to the experience. It makes the Stars games more fun because you have someone you know personally to cheer for. Players become part of your family and you want them to succeed just like your own children.
My family started billeting during the 1999-2000 season, when our kids were 3 and 6 years old. They loved having a player in the house. Our first players were here for 3 years each. We have had 27 players come through our house, and we keep in contact with them still today.
We do our best to make sure the players and the families are a good match to live together. Michael and I would be happy to visit with you if you are interested in the program or have questions. Michael played for the Stars from 2007-2009, so has been on the player side of billeting. He would be happy to share his experiences living with Lincoln families if you would like to learn more.
