Learn to Play Hockey

The Learn to Play Hockey program is designed to help children feel competent and comfortable participating in a variety of fun, challenging sports and activities. At this stage, players:

  • Focus on fun;
  • Develop fundamental movement skills in a fun environment;
  • Learn introductory stick and striking skills through unstructured play and ball hockey;
  • Explore a new surface (ice) and mode of locomotion (skating);
  • Develop on-ice balance and coordination;
  • Develop an interest and passion for hockey.

LIHA's Learn to Play program is for children ages 9 to 12 who have never played hockey. The registration fee includes all gear and a full season on the appropriate team.

Children under the age of 9 will learn to skate and play in the 8U program. Click here for information.
