If you cannot do a game that you are scheduled for, call Ron (402-432-5316) as quickly as possible and leave a message if necessary. 

In order to get as many people games as posible, I will be scheduling 3 referees for 3 games.  This may require a referee to do a game, wait for a game, and do another game.  If you are not willing to do this, please contact Ron.

I believe that all the games for the year have been scheduled with me and I will continue to schedule about a month out.  As LIHA updates the schedule, I will schedule more games. 

I will not schedule you to referee any games until I have a copy of your current referee card.  Email copies of cards to convey@inebraska.com

Once you receive your referee card in the mail, email a copy of it to convey@inebraska.com and you will be ready to referee games for the upcoming year.

Once games begin to be scheduled, they will be posted on this page and updated regularly.  If you cannot do a game you are scheduled for, you need to contact Ron Convey immediately to get another referee to cover your game.  Ron can be contacted at (402) 432-5316 or at convey@inebraska.com.

If you are a new referee this year, or you need some new gear, go to officialswearhouse.com and get your equipment.  They have several starter packages for referees that will help you get started.  You can also check out Face Off Sports as I know there were some limited things in there this past weekend.

Required equipment is:  Black helment (only black), black pants, referee striped shirt, metal whistle (get an Acme Thunder or a Fox 40 metal whistle, no plastic whistles)

Recommended equipment: shin pads, elbow pads, padded girdle (especially if you are doing HS games or above and if  you are over 40).

Forbidden equipment: gloves of any kind.  Referees should never wear gloves, regardless of how cold it is in the arena.

This year is the 2nd year for the new Nebraska Hockey League (NHL).  The teams in this league represent teams in the Squirt, PeeWee and Bantam age divisions and are from Lincoln, Omaha Gladiators and Kearney.  Games will be played in all three locations.

The following game format will be in effect for all NHL games in Lincoln as well as any house games that are played between Lincoln teams:

1.  All 3 periods will be 12-minute stop periods.
2.  Minor penalties will still be 2:00min and Major penalties will be 5:00min.
3.  No time outs are permitted during the game.
4.  Games that end in a tie will be recorded as a tie.  There will be no overtime or shootouts.

Midwest League (MWL) Games
This year all MWL games in the PeeWee AA and all Bantam divisions will use a 3-man referee system.  The Lincoln Bantam travel team is included in this rule.  The MWL tournament in mid December will use a 3-man referee system and the games will be played in 3-12min periods.

These are the current rates for this year.  If anything changes I'll let you know.
